A SEXUAL predator has been jailed for 17 years for the rape and sexual assault of two women in Bracknell dating back to 2006.

The lives of Ajay Gorania's two victims were 'destroyed' after his attacks, with one victim terminating a baby she believed to be the result of being raped.

His second victim's 18-year marriage broke down following an attack after a drunken night in May 2013 where Gorania, of Loughborough in Lincolnshire, sexually assaulted her in the bed she was sharing with her husband.

The 42-year-old now faces 17 years behind bars with Judge Alexia Durran stating: "I do not think it is an understatement to say that you have destroyed two females lives with your actions."

In a statement, his first victim said she felt Gorania had used her problem with binge drinking to his advantage and encouraged her to drink so he could assault her.

She said she would often wake from an alcohol-induced sleep with her clothes moved around, but put this down to her drinking until waking one morning with her bottoms missing.

Just a few weeks later she discovered she was pregnant, confirming her suspicions that she had been assaulted by Gorania.

She said: "After I was raped and found out that I was pregnant, my mental state deteriorated. I was already unwell and it was the straw that broke the camel's back. My life became unbearable and I became deeply depressed. My drinking spiralled out of control and my self confidence was lost.

"I trusted him. He knew that sober I would never have had sexual feelings towards him. He knew I could not and would not refuse a drink."

The victim says she will never forgive herself for terminating the pregnancy, which she believed was the result of Gorania's attack.

"It was so important to me that he was found guilty. The jury believed me and they believed his other victim too. God knows who else he's done it to. He is a predator," she added.

His second victim, attacked in May 2013, said the assault she suffered at the hands of Gorania destroyed her 18-year marriage and has changed her completely.

Gorania was a friend of the family, and snuck into the home while the victim and her husband slept after an evening in the Cannie Man Pub.

She woke to find a hand reaching across her stomach and touching her vagina.

Her husband. who was drunk after a night in the pub, did not wake up as she was being assaulted.

In a statement read out to the court, she said: "I used to be the life and soul and loved going out. Now I just stay at home.

"The biggest impact of this has been the breakdown of my marriage. I could never come to terms with how my husband never woke up. I pushed myself away from him and didn't want him to come anywhere near me. He left me for someone else."

Defending James Kelly said the offences "seem so be very much out of character" and insisted Gorania was not dangerous due to the amount of time between the offences.

Summing up the case, Judge Durran said of his first victim: "You would bring alcohol to her flat. Pour her a double measure when she asked for a single.

"You knew that she was a vulnerable woman and you were attracted to her."

Of the second victim she added: "You destroyed an 18-year marriage to her husband. She lost all of her confidence and she is angry at everyone. There's no doubt that what happened to her will affect her for the rest of her life."

Despite denying six charges against him, Gorania was found guilty of one count of rape and two counts of sexual assault dating back to 2006 against one woman and three counts of sexual assault against a second victim in 2013 by a unanimous jury at Reading Crown Court in October last year.
