AN application to build 400 homes and a 'learning village' at Binfield's Blue Mountain Golf Course has been submitted to the council.
Owners Luff Development are now seeking outline approval for new homes, a 1,077 sq m community facility and new open space at the golf course site in Wood Lane from Bracknell Forest Council.
Full permission for an all-through learning village providing facilities for a nursery, primary and secondary school, post-16 and Special Educational Needs schooling has also been submitted as well as 13 hectares of green space and two new access points from Temple Way.
The submission of the plans last Friday comes two years after the council voted to lift a Section 52 agreement, signed in 1990, which had protected the site from development for 125 years.
The plan has proved controversial, with residents and organisations such as the Binfield Village Protection Society fiercely objecting to the removal of the section 52 notice and the reduction of the green gap between Binfield and Bracknell.
However developers and the council claim the development is necessary to meet the growing demand for homes and school places in the borough.
