A MUM from Binfield has spent the last two years raising more than £4,000 for the hospital that saved her baby's life.

Vicky Slater, 28, was panic-stricken after her one-week old daughter Amber caught a life-threatening infection in 2014 but says the staff Frimley Park Hospital were 'incredible'.

Following a successful auction fundraiser last year, Vicky has decided to continue auctioning off items online in order to raise money to fund more equipment.

The auction runs through Facebook with items such as restaurant vouchers and tickets to Legoland on offer.

So far, Vicky has raised £1,643 this year, smashing her original target amount to donate to the hospital's neonatal and maternity unit.

She says she wants people to know about the amazing support she was offered at the hospital when Amber was struck down by the mystery infection.

Vicky said: "The staff were incredible, they were swift and the medical attention Amber got was second to none. The hospital staff saved her life, not only did they look after her but also made sure I was doing ok.

"We still don't know what the infection was but it could have been as common as a cold - to a newborn this is life threatening. She was given numerous tests bloods, spinal tap, everything and the hospital was incredible both personally and professionally."

Vicky, who has one other child, spent weeks contacting businesses hoping they could offer items up to the auction and says she's had amazing support.

She said: "This is the second year I am fundraising for Frimley Park. I want people to be aware of the amazing care involved and the equipment! But not only raise awareness but fund as many items as we can.

"Running the auction through Facebook was just a thought I had and I went with it! I've spent weeks contacting local businesses and big companies to donate, not all do, but I've had some amazing support from local companies. Facebook seems to reach the most people.

"I couldn't ask for more support. The fact is we are on target to reach double the original aim. I just want to keep going until donations stop coming in. It's not only great for the charity but also helps local businesses with publicity."
