A CALLOUS fraudster who conned a 'vulnerable' elderly man out of thousands of pounds is being hunted by police.

At around midday on Wednesday, August 26 the victim was phoned by someone claiming to be a police officer.

The scammer on the phone claimed the elderly victim's bank account had been hacked, persuading him to withdraw several thousand pounds for a courier to collect.

Later the same day a courier arrived at the man's house in Mansfield Crescent and collected the money. The courier said the elderly man would receive a phone call later in the day.

When the second phone call did not arrive the man began to suspect he had been conned and phoned the police.

Police have now released an E-fit of the 20-year-old black man they say was the courier.

Bracknell News:

Police would like to speak to this man regarding the scam.

PC Zoe Stolarski, of Local CID Bracknell, said: “This was quite an elaborate scam involving several phonecalls and numbers for the victim to call, which sounded very plausible to him.

“We are very keen to catch these criminals who target more vulnerable people and would urge anyone who gets a call purporting to be from the police to contact 101 to check that this is the case.”

If you have any information please contact PC Stolarski on 101, or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
