A 32-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of murder after a body was found in South Hill Park yesterday morning.

A dog walker discovered the body in a child's playground and police were called to South Hill Park at 6.12am on Wednesday.

People on their way to work were confronted with the distressing image before police covered the body with a forensic tent.

The victim has not been formally identified, but police have revealed he is  a 32-year-old man of no fixed abode. His next of kin has not been informed.

Detective Superintendent Chris Ward, head of major crime,  said: “Officers were called to South Hill Park in Bracknell yesterday where sadly a man was found to have died.

"We have now launched a murder investigation and detectives are working to establish the circumstances of the man’s death.

“I would urge anyone who has any information to come forward and speak to police as soon as possible.

“In particular I would like to speak to anyone who saw a man matching the description of the deceased in the South Hill Park area on Tuesday night or the early hours of Wednesday morning, or who saw or heard any suspicious activity, who hasn’t already contacted us.

“The victim is white, approximately 5ft 8ins, medium build with brown hair. He was wearing black tracksuit bottoms, a red polo shirt and trainers on the day he died.

“Officers remain in the area today. A scene watch is still in place in South Hill Park, but South Hill Road is now open. I am grateful to the local residents for their support during this time as officers continue to conduct enquiries."

The arrested man is currently in police custody and a post-mortem examination on the victim is expected to be completed later this afternoon.

Earlier this morning Chief Inspector Dave Gilbert thanked people for their cooperation during the investigation.

He said: "Thanks to local residents in the Bracknell area for being so supportive of our officers on scene watch over the last 24 hours.

"I know it has meant a lot to all of the officers working hard to serve our local community at this time."

South Hill Road was shut for ten hours yesterday as forensic experts combed the scene.
