HISTORY buffs will be delighted to hear a number of heritage open days will be taking place around Bracknell Forest in the upcoming weeks for free. 


On Thursday, September 10, there will be a tour and display of St Michael and Mary Magdalene Church in Easthampstead between 11am and 5pm, which will reopen on Friday, Saturday and Sunday with a choral evensong on Sunday and South Hill Park will open up its grounds between 3pm and 4pm and the mansion will be open for visits between 4.30pm and 5.30pm.


On Friday, September 11, there will be a tour of Eagle House School's cellars, the Tudor House and the Boston air crash site and grounds in Crowthorne at 2.30pm, as well as Saturday and Sunday. 


There is also a guided tour of Bill Hill Bronze Age Burial Mound meeting in Coopers Hill Car Park between 5.30pm and 6.30pm. 


The following day, Saturday 12th, there will be a tour of the fields and woods at Jennett's Park "mapping the past" between 10am and 12pm, All Saints Church in Binfield between 10am and 2pm, St John the Baptist Parish Church in Crowthorne will open its doors between 10am and 4pm, St Michael and All Angels Church in Sandhurst will hold a tour of the church, its grounds and belfry with displays celebrating the church's 150 years between 10am and 5pm.


Sandhurst Museum will also hold its Heritage Day in the Kitty Dancy Room between 11am and 6pm and there will be a guided walk to the Napoleonic Redoubts in Swinley Forest, to meet at Devil's Highway in Brookers Corner, Crowthorne.


On Sunday 13th, there will be a heritage walk in Lily Hill Park, Lily Hill Road, between 1pm and 3pm,
St Michael and All Angels Church in Sandhurst will be open between 1pm and 5pm. There will be information from the choral martins at 9.30am, a tour of the church at 2pm and its grounds and belfrey and a Victorian Sunday School at 3pm. 


St Michael and All Angels Church in Warfield between 2pm and 4pm the Newbold College's restored Grade II listed gardens in Binfield will be open to the public between 2pm and 5pm
