The Bracknell man who died in a fatal hit and run collision on Wednesday, August 19, by the Horse and Groom roundabout in Bracknell, has been named.

David Ardron, 68 of Great Hollands, was cycling along the Bagshot Road at 10.05am when he was in a collision with a silver Audi A3.

Motorists stopped to help him before emergency services arrived.

Police and ambulance crews, including the air ambulance, were sent to the crash site but he was pronounced dead at the scene.

The entire length of the road between the roundabouts of the Bracknell Leisure Centre and the Harvester was closed and traffic diverted through nearby housing estates.

A spokesman for Thames Valley Police said a 40-year-old man, of Surrey, had been arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and failing to stop after an accident. The man has been bailed until Friday, August 28.

Sgt Justin Thomas said: "We are aware of at least three people who stopped at the scene and administered first aid, but they left before we arrived.

"We would like to them to contact us urgently as they may have information which would be helpful to us."

Police are appealing for anyone with information to contact them via 101 quoting URN 333 19/8.

The road was closed in both directions for four hours whilst forensic experts examined the scene.

A spokeswoman for the Southern Central Ambulance Service said: "We were called at 10.08am to a road traffic collision involving a push bike and a car.

"We sent an ambulance crew, an ambulance officer, a rapid response vehicle and the air ambulance."

Mr Ardron is survived by his wife Jean, son Ben and daughter Miriam.
