The Solihull Vixens were the only team standing in their way of a clean sweep and Queen Bees were in no mood to let the opportunity slip.

They finished emphatic 7-1 winners in a one-sided game that saw them outshoot the Vixens 54-10.

The scorers were Leanne Ganney 3+1, Kim Lane 1+1, Nats Aldridge 1+1, Veronique Laramee-Paquet 1+0, Lily Highgate 1+0, Millie Overton 0+1, Amanda Handisides 0+1 and Louise Adams 0+1.

On Sunday the club’s Under 16 Ice Bees contested the National Final against the Northern Championship winning team from Kingston.

A great game of end to end hockey showcased the talented players of the future.

And it was the Bees who produced the goods to overcome their northern rivals 7-5 to lift the trophy for the first time in many years.

The Cup Final also saw the Queen Bees face the runners up in the Premier league, the Kingston Diamonds, in what proved to be a brutal encounter of tough hockey.

Both teams incurred penalties for big hits, but the Bracknell-based unit dominated the puck and created the best chances.

Goals at the end of the first period were followed by a further two in the second and a final one in the third as Bees secured a 4-0 victory.

The scorers were Aldridge 1+0, Ganney 1+0, Jess Curtis 1+0, Lane 1+0, Overton 0+2, Laramee-Paquet 0+1, Highgate 0+1 and Lauren Summers 0+1.

The post-tournament celebrations were a mixture of emotions with the Queen Bees’ longest serving player and captain Victoria Graichen Cunningham retiring after 23 years at the club.

But she couldn’t have gone out on a better note after Queen Bees sealed a unique treble – The Bill Britton Trophy, Premier League and Elite Cup trophies – to add to the superb achievements of the Ice Bees this season.
