<span>RESIDENTS may experience lower water pressure today after a main water pipe burst at a water treatment works.</span> <span>RESIDENTS may experience lower water pressure today after a main water pipe burst at a water treatment works.</span> <span>Affinity Water are currently trying to repair a 1000mm water pipe which burst at the water works in Egham. </span> <span>Though it's not clear how many homes are affected, water is being diverted from other areas to meet demand in the RG12 and RG42 postcodes.</span> <span>The repair has been described as 'complex' by the water firm who has apologised to customers. </span> <span>In a statement Affinity said: "</span>We would like to apologise to customers for any disruption to their supply following a burst to water main at our Egham water treatment works.

<span>"Our teams are on site and are working to cut out the pipe and establish the size for a replacement part. </span><span>However, as the pipe is custom made from specialist glass reinforced plastic, the repair is complex. To maximise the likelihood of the quickest replacement possible, two manufacturing companies are on standby to make the replacement pipe.</span> <span>"In the meantime, we have been working to maintain water supplies by diverting water in from other areas, but during this time some of our customers may experience lower water pressure than normal.</span> <span>"We regret that a number of our customers will experience a loss of supply later this evening and would like to reassure our customers that we are doing everything possible to remedy this situation.</span> <span>They are asking people to save water wherever possible, a bit of an ask on the hottest day of the year so far. </span>
