The 6ft fibre glass poppy was stolen from the ‘Peanut Roundabout’ on Sheet Street Road travelling from Windsor Great Park to Ascot.
Investigating officer, PC Martyn Withers from the Windsor and Ascot Neighbourhood Policing Team said: “This commemorative poppy was purchased and erected by Bracknell Forest Borough Council on the roundabout to commemorate the First World War Centenary.
“It is over 6ft high and was bolted into a concrete base, so it appears somebody has gone to great effort to take the poppy. The roundabout is on is a very busy road with a high volume of traffic so it is likely that someone noticed the poppy was missing or perhaps saw someone walking away with it.
“The poppy has no re-cycle value and is not for sale and was intended for re-use during Remembrance Sundays.”
The poppy was reported stolen on Tuesday (5/8), but may have been taken before this.
Anyone with any information should call 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
