THE headteacher of a Sunningdale school is “extremely proud” after it consolidated its position as a ‘good’ school.

Holy Trinity CofE Primary School headteacher Tim Dunning and teachers Amber Lowings and Stacey Harding with pupils after the school retained its ‘good’ rating by Ofsted inspectors.

Holy Trinity CofE Primary School was praised by Ofsted inspectors for its work in making sure its Year Six pupils were set up to succeed in secondary school. In again giving the school a ‘good’ grading – one below the highest rating of ‘outstanding’ – inspectors were also impressed by the teaching of the curriculum, saying some was outstanding, particularly in Years Four to Six.

The Church Road school was also noted for the good feeling within the school, citing the good behaviour of pupils and the interaction they have with each other.

The school was marked as ‘good’ across all four areas of the inspection – achievement of pupils; quality of teaching; behaviour and safety of pupils; and leadership and management.

Tim Dunning, the school’s headteacher, said the report just confirmed the level at which he and the teachers thought the school was. He said: “I am very proud of both the staff and the children.

“However that report is not just about the two days we were inspected but about how the school is on a daily basis. It was down to a good team and a great community effort.

“It is a good platform to go from and helps us understand where we are.”

Inspectors published their report on April 24 following the two-day inspection in March.

They said that in order to progress up to the top rating of ‘outstanding’, the school needs to improve its teaching so it is consistently outstanding and to make sure pupils are making improvements to their work following feedback from teachers.
