About 30 people who look after different parts of the village from litter picking to tending flower displays, gathered at the Sunningdale Parish office on Friday September 6.
They tucked into scones, cakes, tea and biscuits as they were thanked, and were able to catch up with friends from around the area. Sunningdale Parish Council rewards the volunteers every year with a party, acknowledging they play an important role in keeping the village’s streets tidy and parks clean.
Parish council chairwoman Christine Gadd said: “It shows that so many people care about the community and our village, and they fully deserve this party to celebrate all the good work they have done.”
Peter Holroyd, who regularly picks up litter in the village, said: “I feel privileged to be invited but I think, more importantly, it just shows that there is a great community spirit.”
