PEOPLE still have time to nominate their volunteering heroes.

The Royal borough is calling on residents to name those they think deserve to be recognised in the council's first volunteer awards scheme.

The closing date for nominations is Friday and Cllr Christine Bateson, cabinet member for planning and participation, said: "We have received a good number of nominations but we know there are more people who deserve to be put forward for an award.

"These council volunteering awards are a public way of thanking the many exceptional people who give their time to help council services and projects run smoothly. There is an army of volunteers who deserve recognition. I am sure you know someone in the community who is doing their bit so don't hesitate - get those nominations in!"

People who volunteer with the council can be nominated in seven different categories: - Adopt-A-Street (schools, businesses, community and individuals) - Community project - Community Safety (individuals or groups) - Libraries - Museums - School governor - Young volunteer Call Deb Beasley on 01628 796100 or email rbwmawards@rbwm.gov.uk for information on how to nominate someone.
