THE crowds cheered for jockey Frankie Dettori and Olympian Denise Lewis as they carried the Olympic torch at Ascot Racecourse today.

Thousands of people saw the flame as it was brought into the Parade Ring by Ms Lewis who then handed it to Mr Dettori who was riding top racehorse Monsignor.

After a 20 minute break Mr Dettori passed the flame onto Woodley girl Pippa Hatch who carried it back out to the High Street.
