Lane closure on A3095

THERE may be delays on the Crowthorne by-pass A3095 Foresters Way at the start of next week while a lane is closed for tree mulching.
Bracknell Forest Council plans to shut a lane along part of the road from 9.30am-3.30pm from Monday to Wednesday to allow contractors to remove trees damaged in the Swinley Forest fires in May last year.
The work had been due to be carried out in the spring at the same time contractors carried out gorse clearance and embankment reseeding but it was post-poned due to the wet weather.
Steve Loudoun, chief officer for environment and public protection at the council, said: "We are in the peak wildfire season, and with the potential for weather to get warmer, the potential risk of fire increases.
"There is a need for us to complete the final part of the project as we have always intended but we have been hampered by particularly wet periods of weather.
"The work we are carrying out along the verges of Foresters Way is essential if we want to minimise the potential risk of fire."
Cllr Mary Ballin, executive member for planning and transport, added: "We apologise in advance for any inconvenience caused during the off-peak lane closures."

Report commentWhy do they not put in a gravel track running parallel with the road, this can be used by the lorries. When finished it could be left as a permanent footpath/cycle path for walkers and cyclists which currently have to walk along the verge of which is a fast and dangerous road and will be required when the new Broadmoor Hospital goes in.
This would prevent the need for any lane closures. They are already doing this part way along this road so why not complete it all the way. It would also act as a fire break.
