SWIMMERS can help older people by diving in to raise money for the Mayor of Bracknell Forest's charity of the year.
The Mayor, Cllr Chris Turrell, is inviting people to sign up for a sponsored swim in aid of Age Concern Bracknell Forest (ACBF) from 6pm on Saturday, November 26.
Cllr Turrell, who will present medals on the day, said: "This swim is open to everyone - young or old. The more entries, the better! This is a good way to raise money for a locally-based charity, and help local residents."
ACBF is an independent charity which supports older people in the borough community as well as running a day centre in Worlds End Hill, Forest Park.
Each swimmer will have 15 minutes in the water at Bracknell Leisure Centre in Bagshot Road to swim as many lengths as they can. Both children and adults can take part.
The entry fee is £2 and participants are asked to try to raise a minimum of £25 in sponsorship. All money raised goes to ACBF.
Sign up by contacting ACBF on 01344 428074 or visit www.ageconcernbracknell.org.uk.
The closing date for entries is November 16.
Once all entries are submitted, swimmers will be grouped into sessions for children, and adults of different abilities. Participants will then be told which time slot they are in.
