A VEHICLE which is believed to have been used for fly-tipping in Virginia Water has been seized thanks to the work of residents, Surrey Police and the local council.

The white Ford transit tipper was believed to have been used in at least one fly-tipping incident in the Virginia Water area on Sunday, April 22, and will be crushed or sold unless a 'sufficiently evidenced claim' is made to reclaim it.

The vehicle was seized from a road in Egham on Thursday, April 26 under powers granted to local councils in 2015 that allow them to take vehicles believed to have been used in waste offences including fly-tipping.

Daniel Bradding, Senior Environmental Health Officer at Runnymede, said: "The vehicle was traced to Crown Street, Egham from where it was seized with the assistance of local police colleagues while the road was blocked for a short while.

"Our investigations are ongoing. If anyone has information about this or other fly-tipping incidents we encourage them to contact our fly-tipping hotline and leave a message anytime on 01932 425 656."
