THE DUKE of Edinburgh is said to be recovering well in hospital following hip replacement surgery.
Buckingham Palace has confirmed in a statement that Prince Philip, 96, underwent the operation on Wednesday and is 'progressing satisfactorily'.
The statement said: "His Royal Highness is likely to remain in hospital for several days. He is comfortable and in good spirits.
"Further updates will be issued when appropriate."
