A STUDENT from Ascot will make an appearance on BBC this year.

Alexandra Dunnet, who attends Charters School, will appear in BBC's Christmas Lectures, part of the channel's Christmas schedule.

The show, which is part of a three piece special, will be broadcast on BBC4 on December 26, 27 and 28, Alexandra's performance will be on December 26.

The shows will be based around Professor Sophie Scott from UCL's institute of cognitive neuroscience exploring the diverse world of communication.

Alexandra's demonstration is using a musical instrument to create the noise made by a cricket, in order to illustrate how the critters make the noise in real life.

Alexandra said: "I really loved being able to go to the Christmas Lectures and I especially liked all the different demonstrations. It was really great to be able to recreate the sound of a cricket on stage."
