BURGLARS took cash and threatened a shopkeeper in a late-night raid of a high street Budgens.

The two burglars forced entry to the Budgens on Ascot high street, before stealing cash and running towards the Tesco metro across the road.

One witness, who has asked to remain anonymous, has explained seeing a man running down the road away from the Tesco.

"I had parked up on the side of the road by the petrol station, opposite the Tesco," they said.

"As I got out of the car I could hear an alarm going off, but I thought it was a car alarm at the petrol station.

"As I was getting out of the car and going across the road, there was a guy running very very fast in front of the shops."

The witness explained the whole incident went by like a blur.

"I couldn't take too much notice at the time because it all happened so quickly." They explained.

"It seemed odd that he was running that fast in front of the shops.

"I thought there was another guy not running, but wearing a high visibility jacket, but I could be wrong.

"Just as I started walking across the road the police arrived in the petrol station."

Thames Valley Police issued the following appeal for information: "We are investigating this robbery and are appealing for anyone who might have information to come forward.

"We are specifically appealing for a witness, who is a white man, aged fifty to seventy, who we believe walked into the shop briefly during the incident and then walked out again. We believe this man then walked into the Tesco store on the High Street.

"We are keen to trace this man as a possible witness because we are hoping he might have information that can help our investigation."
