A PENSIONER was tricked into giving up his bank cards after a man posing as a bank manager tricked him.

The 81-year-old victim received a call from Barclays bank in Ascot on Tuesday, March 28.

He was contacted by a man claiming to be the branch manager and explained his bank cards had been corrupted and needed to be replaced.

The victim was asked for confidential banking pass codes, before telling him a courier would be collecting the cards from him shortly.

His cards were taken and money was subsequently stolen.

Designated investigator Jacqueline Mackay, of Local CID based at Maidenhead police station said: “I would like to speak to the man in this image as he may have information vital to our investigation.

“If you have any information about this incident or recognise the man in the CCTV image please contact me via the Thames Valley Police non-enquiry centre on 101.

“If you don’t want to speak to police you can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111. No personal details are taken, information is not traced or recorded and you will not go to court.

“Remember that police and banks would never ask for your PIN or send a courier to collect your card.

"Never transfer money into the account of someone you don’t know and don’t be pressured into withdrawing money, or leaving it unattended. Please share this message with any elderly friends.”
