A 28-year-old man has been jailed for over four years for a series of fraud offences in Ascot.

Jimmy Chuter, of Matthews Court, Ascot, admitted three counts of fraud by false representation at Reading Crown Court on October 18, after incorrectly claiming he had completed building work on victims' homes.

He was arrested on September 22 this year and charged the following day.

He will now serve four years and six months in prison.

The court heard Chuter falsely claimed he had completed building work on victims’ properties when he had not and deliberately targeted older people.

He requested money for materials used and followed his victims to the bank, intercepting them outside and took their cash, as well as requesting more money from them.

He then followed victims to a second cash point, and intercepted them outside, taking the money from them.

Investigating officer, Det Con Nicola Tompkins of Maidenhead Local CID, said: "Jimmy Chuter lied to obtain money from his victims. In all three cases Chuter tricked vulnerable people into providing him with money for building work he had not completed.

"This has been a long and complex investigation and I trust that the conviction not only reassures our communities but also sends a message out that crime will not pay in the Thames Valley."
