ONLY a handful of arrests have been made during the first three days of Royal Ascot with 129,000 people passing through the famous gates.

Police have reported the event has been "positive" so far and despite bouts of heavy rain there have been no major incidents.

Some of those who did cause trouble were a 21-year-old man from Epsom who was arrested and issued with a fixed penalty notice for being drunk and disorderly and a 36-year-old man from Grimsby who was arrested for using threatening and abusive behaviour, he too was handed a penalty notice. 

A 32-year-old man from Tewkesbury has been released on police bail until June 17 after being arrested on suspicion of theft by employee.

A 23-year-old man from Slough is still in police custody after he was arrested for theft, including theft by finding and common assault.

Police are also investigating a suspected theft of a mobile phone and are reminding race-goers to keep their valuables safe and in sight during their visit.

Tickets for the later days of the event are sold out, and any transactions for tickets should only take place through the authorised Racecourse outlets.

Weather conditions continue to improve throughout the week, but it is strongly advised to plan ahead for the weather conditions so as not to impact on your travel and enjoyment of the event.
