Following an investigation by Thames Valley Police, a man has been sentenced to three years’ imprisonment for assault occasioning grievous bodily harm (GBH) in Ascot.

Marlon Blair was in the Club One nightclub in Ascot on October 6 2013 when he attacked another man.

The 32-year-old victim was hit over the head with a champagne bottle and suffered a fractured skill, a bleed on the brain and temporary issues with his sight and hearing.

The victim was treated at Frimley Park Hospital and has since been discharged and made a full recovery.

Blair was arrested at his former address in Heathcote Road, Camberley, Surrey, on 6 December 2013.

During his arrest, police officers found a large quantity of skunk cannabis with a street value of between £1,800 and £2,250.

Investigating officer, Det Con Emily Evans of Force CID said: “I am delighted that Blair has been sent to prison for a significant period for this unprovoked attack and possession with intent to supply cannabis.

“The victim in the Grievous Bodily Harm was hit with such force that he sustained a fractured skull, bleed on the brain, and temporary issues with his sight and hearing. I hope that Blair’s sentence will give the victim some sense of justice.

“Blair will now have time to think about his crimes during his three year period in prison.” Blair aged 33, of Marlis Close, Bagshot, Surrey, was sentenced at Oxford Crown Court on Tuesday April 28 to three years’ imprisonment, after pleading guilty to one count of GBH and one count of possession with intent to supply.
