LARGE cod and mushy peas are on the menu as a Bracknell dry cleaners looks set to become a chippie.

Crystal Cleaners, based at Birch Hill Shopping Centre by Bracknell’s Aldi, could soon be no more with plans to convert the shop submitted earlier this month.

But regular dry cleaning customers should fear not as Crystal Cleaners will move to Great Hollands Square should these plans be given permission.

According to planning documents, Crystal Cleaners owner Mr Chaudry is set to oversee the transformation as he bids to introduce a “professional, clean-look fish and chip shop” to Birch Hill.

A planning statement read: “The proposal is to introduce a professional clean look fish and chips (e.g. Mr. COD) hot food take away shop.

“This proposal will provide an essential service for the local community.

“Currently, there is only one Chinese takeaway in the shopping precinct.

Bracknell News:

“The current owner of Crystal Cleaners will be running the new takeaway business.

“He has been in this shop location for over 18 years and is well known and respected by the local community.

“He intends to continue the good relations going forward with the takeaway business.”

Mr Chaudry told the News he also plans to sell Peri-Peri chicken and pizza at his new takeaway. 

Planned opening times for the chippie are 12pm to 11pm, Monday to Saturday.

Bracknell News:

The takeaway would close an hour earlier on Sundays and bank holidays.

Bracknell Forest Council is yet to make a decision on the plans.
