A CARE home in Wokingham as earned a national gardening award recently.

Alexandra Grange Care Home, on Molly Millars Lane, Wokingham, was given the 'Best recording of garden memories' award, as a part of the 'Hallmark in Bloom' competition.

The competition views the garden work by care homes under the Hallmark group, and gives awards to for different achievements.

Due to the Coronavirus, this year's entries were decided by a five minute video submitted to the judges.

Lifestyles Assistant and Gardening Champion at Alexandra Grange Care Home, Elspeth Wilkinson said: “It’s been a pleasure to work with the residents and different members of the team nurturing our garden.

“I have learnt so much from the residents. I had so much fun making the scrapbook with the residents and being able to see the progress that we have made in picture form.

“I hope the residents, relatives and team will be able to look back at the scrapbook and remember the rainbow after the rain.”

April Dobson, Head of Relationship-Centred Care at Hallmark said: “It is evident that the team at Alexandra Grange have worked so hard to develop their small garden into a magical space.

"Their recording of how they transformed their garden gives residents and team alike the opportunity to reflect on everything they have done together, and their achievements to date.

"The book they have created will be treasured, and added to, for years to come.”
