FAMILIES will get to enjoy a whole host of music, entertainment and performances at the Bracknell Community Day celebrating Bracknell's 70th birthday.

The first ever Bracknell Community Day takes place in The Lexicon on Bond and Bull Square on June 15 where residents will get to enjoy a range of performances.

The community day, organised by Involve with input from The Lexicon, will feature a Bracknell Forest Council 70th birthday stall. 

Visitors will get to post memories of Bracknell in the birthday post box and be in with a chance of winning £70 in gift vouchers to spend at The Lexicon.

Councillor Paul Bettison, leader of Bracknell Forest Council, said: "Bracknell has a wonderful history as a new town and has been through a vast amount of change in the past 70 years.

"We are really pleased to be linking up with Involve and The Lexicon at the Community Day on 15 june to celebrate this milstone in the town's history and whole heartedly invite all our residents to come on down and take part in the festivities." 

Mayor Councillor Pauline McKenzie will officially open the event to crowds at 11am in the town centre.

The OBJ Morris Dancers will then start off the first performance, with theatrical shows, a singalong and young musicians taking centre stage.

In total 16 acts will be performing and much-loved entertainer Johnny Slap will be entertaining Bracknell families.

Bellway Homes will be sponsoring the Bracknell Community Day event with its mascot greeting visitors on the day.

The Easthampstead Rotary Club will be setting up their stall, amongst 20 others voluntary groups on-hand with activities and information about the work that they do in the community.

Cllr Paul Bettison, added: "We will also be extending the celebrations through the town's birthday week and we hope you all enjoy the trip down memory lane with us."
