GRIEVING families will have more choice when saying goodbye to loved ones thanks to the opening of a new chapel.

Easthampstead Park Cemetery and Crematorium opened the new state-of-the-art facility, named Wellington, on Monday, which can offer seating for 100 people and extra standing room for larger services, allowing the site to run up to 14 services a day.

The work is part of a wider scheme which will increase parking spaces within the grounds by nearly 50 per cent, along with a new road layout, to allow for better traffic flow.

Iain McCracken, executive member for culture, resources and public protection said ā€œIā€™m delighted to be part of the opening of the new Wellington chapel today, a welcome addition to the facilities at Easthampstead Park Cemetery and Crematorium. The new chapel, along with improvements at the site will help provide a more comprehensive service for residents and their families.ā€
