THE FAMILY of 'murdered' Gee Smith have celebrated his birthday by calling for a retrial into his death.

Mr Smith died on November 24, 2017 from knife wounds after an altercation between himself and Anthony Wheaton.

Mr Wheaton was found not guilty of his murder and manslaughter, after claiming self-defence caused him to pick up the knife, which Mr Smith then ran onto.

Mr Smith's family is now pressing for a retrial, calling for 'justice for Gee'.

A petition on Change.org has gained 4,220 signatures calling for a retrial, in a hope to bring the case back before a judge.

Mr Smith, an amateur boxer, would have been 30 years old on July 31.
