A LITTLE girl from Harman's Water has proved that she has a very big heart after cutting off her hair for charity.

Five-year-old Edith Bright, who hasn't cut her hair in two years, faced the chop at Hair Studio, in The Square, on Friday morning under the watchful eye of proud mum, Joanne.

The little girl, who attends Crown Wood Primary School, read a book about strong women, and saw a picture of a girl who had cut her hair off.

Joanne said: "She asked me why the girl had done it, and I explained that she wanted to donate her hair to charity. From that moment, Edith spoke of nothing else.

"We looked up The little Princess Trust, which makes wigs for children undergoing cancer treatment, and she decided that is what she wanted to do."

The brave girl, who had never been to a hair salon before, had more than nine inches of hair cut, leaving her with a smart bob style.

Joanne said: "She has been very excited. She told her friends at school what she was going to do, and she decided to raise money as well. So far, she has raised £342 which is incredible, I'm so proud of her."

Edith said: "I was a little bit nervous but I really like my new hair."
