HUNDREDS of pupils at a school in Bracknell will go into the summer holidays knowing they could potentially save a life, thanks to a mass first aid training session.

Year Seven students from Garth Hill College, in Bull Lane, welcomed volunteers from St John's Ambulance to the school on Monday (16) to complete an essential first aid course.

The children spent the day learning a range of new skills, including how to help people who are choking, bleeding or suffering with chest pains.

Pupils were also taught how to put somebody into the recovery position and how to resuscitate

them.

Garth Hill College Principal Keith Grainger said: “We are delighted to provide such important

training to our pupils. Special thanks to Boehringer Ingelheim for sponsoring the event

and St John Ambulance for their expert delivery.

"Young people with this training will be able to act if faced with a scenario which requires first aid and this is a huge benefit to the local community.”

Camilla Horwood, Head of External Affairs for Boehringer Ingelheim said: “Engagement in

social responsibility is a strong part of our culture. We are therefore delighted to continue to

support first aid training at Garth Hill College.
