A MAN was charged with sexual assault after an incident at Royal Ascot.

Sarmad Aziz, 31, of Mecklenburgh Square in London was arrested on suspicion of sexual assault and later charged with one count of sexual assault. He was bailed and will appear before Slough Magistrates Court on July 6.

Throughout the week, Thames Valley Police officers made numerous arrests, including a man from Bracknell.

Jamil Plested, 21, of Davy Place in Bracknell, was just one of seventeen people arrested throughout the race week.

Plested was charged with one count of assaulting a police officer and section 4A of the Public Order Act. He was released on bail to appear at Slough Magistrates Court on July 24. 

He was arrested on June 22, and charged on the same day. 

On Tuesday June 19 there were two arrests made, a woman was cautioned on suspicion of theft, and a second woman was cautioned following being arrested on suspicion of assaulting a police officer.

Samuel Tatton-Scattergood, 30, of High Street, Shanklin, was charged with being drunk and disorderly, and will appear before Slough Magistrates Court on July 6.

Another man was arrested for an outstanding warrant and appeared at Slough Magistrates Court the following day.

A man was arrested on suspicion of assault on Ladies' Day, though he was later released subject to no further action, whilst a different man was arrested on suspicion of assaulting a police officer and was cautioned. 

On the final day of the race week, a man was arrested on suspicion of sexual assault and being drunk and disorderly. He was given a penalty notice for being drunk and disorderly, though received no further punishment for the sexual assault.

Liam Hewison, 26, of Whitton Road in Twickenham, was charged with two counts of criminal damage. He will appear before Slough Magistrates Court on July 9 after being bailed.
