ASCOT NURSERY school has been slammed by the inspectorate.

The Ofsted inspection rated the nursery as ‘Inadequate’, the lowest grade possible, where previously it had been ‘Good’.

The nursery was rated ‘Inadequate’ in effectiveness of the leadership and management, and personal development, behaviour and welfare.

Ofsted declared that the nursery requires improvement in quality of teaching, learning and assessment, and outcomes for children.

The nursery claims to be ‘The best start in life’, but the Ofsted report claims that the safeguarding of children is not met.

However, the report does state that children do not seem to mind the apparent downfalls.

“Children are happy, settle well and enjoy positive relationships with staff.

“Overall, partnerships with parents are strong. Parents comment that staff are approachable and care for their children well.”

Owner of the Ascot Nursery School, Pat Evitt, explained that she was thoroughly disappointed with the result.

“I am very upset with the result of the Ofsted report.

“All of the parents from the school have been given a copy of the report, and all of their feedback was very positive.

“They could not believe that this was our nursery that the report was talking about.

“I have implemented changes to the school, and all staff have taken time out to do a first aid course, meaning that they all have up-to-date first aid certificates.

“We are determined to get the Ascot Nursery School back up to the level that we were previously at.”

Ofsted will conduct a follow-up report in the next six months.
