THE BEREAVED sister of a murder victim explained in court how the last thing he did before his death was kiss her little daughter and tell her he loved her.

Molly Cook, sister of Gee Smith, explained that she had called Gee to her house after Anthony Wheaton, the man accused of murdering him, had stormed in looking for his partner.

Ms Cook told Reading Crown Court that she chased Wheaton out of her house, before calling her brother, Gee, in a bid to diffuse the situation.

She told the jury that after she got into an argument with Wheaton’s partner, he shouted back at her while leaving. She said she shouted back that she was getting her brother to sort things out “man to man”.

She said: “He [Wheaton] let himself into my home. He was not invited.

“He went straight to his partner and said ‘get the f*** home, I’ll kill you when we get home’

“Everything was f*** this, f*** that.”

Ms Cook said Wheaton eventually left and his partner followed, but the two got into a scuffle before she left.

Whilst sobbing heavily on the stand, Ms Cook told the jury that she had shouted after Wheaton when he left.

“I called out to Anthony as he left saying ‘It’s okay, I’m going to get my brother to deal with this man to man.

“He said - ‘I’m going to kill him’, and then he did.

“I called up Gee and he said ‘It’s Ant [Wheaton], isn’t it?’

“He came in and my daughter, who had a bleeding nose following the altercation, appeared in the hallway.

“He went to her and gave her a big cuddle and a kiss, and he said ‘I love you’, and then he went.”

A pathology report found that Mr Smith had been drinking and had taken cocaine on the night he was killed.

Wheaton denies one count of murder.

The trial, heard before Judge Angela Morris, continues.
