CONSERVATIVE MP Dr Phillip Lee has praised the work of schools across Bracknell and Wokingham.

Dr Lee, MP for Bracknell, explained that additional funding for schools created by the government will see £1.9 million extra available for schools in Bracknell Forest, and £2.43 million in Wokingham.

This extra funding injection comes just over a year after Forest headteacher Mary Sandell quit her role at the school due to a lack of funding.

Dr Lee believes that this extra money made available will allow for children to have a better standard of education, and will help out teachers with resources.

He said: “Our teachers do a fantastic job, and it is a testament to their hard work, combined with this Government’s reforms, that more children in our constituency are gaining the knowledge and skills they need to succeed – whatever they choose to do.

“There is more to do, but with the attainment gap narrowing, and a record number of children attending good schools, our reforms are ensuring that more young people are being given the opportunity to succeed.”

Additional funding of £3.4 million has also been designated for helping disadvantaged children, with aim of closing the attainment gap between disadvantaged children and their more affluent colleagues.
