CARNIVAL POOL will be closed for two weeks due to 'urgent' repair works.

The 25-year-old pool will be closed from May 1 onwards for approximately a fortnight.

Members have been contacted regarding their fees during the period, and all other leisure facilities will remain open, except for the main pool and the teaching pool.

Graham Ebers, director of corporate services and deputy chief executive, said:  “I’d like to apologise to our customers for the inconvenience caused to our swimmers. We will be working with our contractors to ensure that the works are completed as quickly as possible. We would like to thank customers in advance for their patience and understanding during this time.

“We haven’t taken this decision lightly. The Carnival Pool is 25 years old and these vital repairs are needed now to maintain the life of the swimming pool until we can starting building the new leisure centre and pool on the current site from 2020."
