A CHARITY football tournament in support of a Bracknell schoolboy has raised £500.

The tournament took place at Bracknell Town FC's grounds in Larges Lane on Friday night, raising the money for eight-year-old Holly Spring School pupil Marcus Rooks, who has a rare form of Muscular Dystrophy.

The money raised will be split between Marcus' personal charity, Moving Muscles for Marcus, and Muscular Dystrophy UK.

Teams from Bracknell Police, Avis Car Hire, Bracknell and Wokingham College, and Dads of Holly Spring School played games in a mini league format. The final took place between Bracknell Police and the Dads of Holly Spring, with the the latter emerging victorious with a 5-1 score line.

PCSO for Bullbrook Iain Gregory, who helped organise the tournament said: “ This has been a wonderful event, highlighting again the wonderful community spirit shown in our neighbourhood. Bullbrook residents and businesses have a fantastic social network which has enabled this event to be easily organised and managed. The matches were played in a superb spirit and thanks is shown to all who played, donated and attended and also to Bracknell Football Club for the free use of their facilities.”
