A CHARITY which helps locate missing people has moved into a new base.

Berkshire Lowland Search and Rescue (BLSR), which was stationed at Easthampstead Park Conference Centre for more than 30 years, moved into a new premises in Arborfield Green.

Following an appeal for help finding a new home, homebuilder Crest Nicholson came forward to offer the charity a temporary home on the former garrison site.

On March 24, BLSR began moving into an old grounds maintenance building which had been brought back into use ready for their occupation.

Kris Manning, chairman of BLSR said: "We are extremely grateful to Crest Nicholson for their generous support and also excited about joining in the Arborfield community.

"having all out vehicles and equipment located at a single base will enable a quicker response and in our world that means better outcomes for search and rescue incidents."

Anil Bungar, senior development director for Crest Nicholson said: "We are delighted to have been able to help BLSR, at a time when they themselves were in real need. This team of volunteers have such a vital and important role in the local community and we look forward to welcoming them to Arborfield Green."
