A WOMAN has been seriously injured in a crash. 

Barkham Road has been closed as emergency services deal with the incideent and motorists are asked to avoid the area.

The incident occurred before 8:30am, with witnesses describing seeing "a lot of blue flashing lights"

The Barkham road runs from Wokingham Borough Council's offices down past the Wokingham train station and through to Barkham.

Thames Valley Police spokesman confirmed the incident was a collision and said: "No life threatening injuries and recovery has been completed so traffic will be returning to normal soon."

A South Central Ambulance Service spokesman said: "We received a number of 999 calls shortly after 07.30 this morning reporting a two car collision at the above location (Barkham Road).

"We sent two ambulances and the air ambulance rapid response car to the scene.

"There were two patients injured in the collision; an approx. 20-year-old female was taken to the Royal Berkshire Hospital (RBH) with serious but not life-threatening injuries; a second patient was taken to RBH with minor injuries."
