A CURRY HOUSE was voted one of the best in the country at the annual Curry Life Awards.

Nanu's Indian Takeaway in Sunninghill, Ascot was among the four establishments to win the award this year.

The takeaway collected its award at a gala event held at Royal Lancaster Hotel in London, which was attended by more than 600 people.

Shamimur Rahman, chef patron for Nanu’s Indian Takeaway, said: “This award is a testament to the hard work and effort our team has put in since the day of opening of this place.

“We’re one big family here so it’s great news for everyone. We cook more than 80 takeaways on our busiest night and Chicken Tikka Masala is still the people’s favourite after all these years.”

The Curry Life Awards and Gala Dinner celebrated the nation's curry industry, which generates revenue of £4.2billion a year.

Invited guest at the ceremony Sir Keir Starmer MP, shadow brexit secretary, said: “The curry industry makes a huge contribution to the economy and is an integral part of the UK dining experience.

“It’s been through some tough times but has continued to grow and develop to meet the growing appetite for this cuisine.

“Its employees epitomise the ethos that hard work brings success and I’m delighted they are in the spotlight tonight and able to sit back and enjoy an evening off.”
