A female pedestrian died in a crash in the early hours.
Shortly before 12.45am today (Saturday) the female pedestrian was involved in a collision with a white Range Rover which was travelling on the slip road of the Inner Distribution Road between the Castle Street and Oxford Road roundabouts.
Officers and ambulance crew attended. However, the pedestrian, a 44-year-old woman died at the scene. Her next of kin have been informed.
A 30-year-old man from Reading was arrested on suspicion of causing death by driving without due care/consideration while over specified limit of a controlled drug.
He was released under investigation.
Roads closures were in place while an investigation was launched. The roads were subsequently re-opened.
Investigating officer PC James Lovell, of the Serious Collision Investigation Unit at Three Mile Cross, said: I would like to speak to anyone who witnessed the the collision or who saw a female pedestrian in the carriageway prior to the collision."
"I would particularly like to speak to some of the taxi drivers who may have stopped to speak to the woman prior to the incident taking place as they may have information which could assist the investigation."
