If you think ghosts and ghouls just exist in scary movies, then think again, as they are currently out in force at Legoland, writes Aamina Zafar.

I recently visited the theme park in Winkfield Road, Windsor, to experience its annual Brick or Treat event and it was full of screams and scares.

In fact, the two-week event, which kicked off on Saturday and will run until Monday, October 30, is packed with spooky surprises.

As me and my son were wondering through the park, we bump into costume characters Frankie, the friendly monster, Lord Vampyre and Orange Brick. This was a big hit with all the kids at the park, who were swarming around them getting high-five. If you are feeling brave enough you can even go up to them and snap spooky selfies.

The regular puppet shows at the park have also had a Halloween make-over and children have the chance to create Lego and Duplo skeletons and pumpkins at various building stations that are dotted around the theme park. And if you kids are anything like my five-year-old son, then that is bound to keep them entertained for hours on end.

Legoland is also famous for its Miniland attraction, which boasts miniature landmarks made entirely from Lego bricks. During our visit, we loved spotting Lego ghosts haunting some of the world’s most iconic landmarks. Our favourite was the Eiffel Tower, which was covered in mini ghosts. Be sure to keep your eyes peeled and you may even see the world’s smallest Lego pumpkin patch hidden amongst the landmarks.

That’s not all, visitors can also watch a spectacular firework display on the last two weekends of October (21, 22, 27 and 28). Families, will be wowed by magnificent pyrotechnics perfectly choreographed to music. If you pay extra for the 3D glasses, then you can also see Lego bricks exploding across the sky during the display.

In addition to all these spooky activities – we also enjoyed the theme park’s regular rides, shows and attractions, which are designed for 2 to 12-year-olds. If the Halloween themed activities do not make you scream, then a ride on the famous Dragon roller coaster certainly will. In fact, we loved it so much that we queued up for it twice and braved the 30 minute wait. If you can push your budget, then it is worth considering Q-Bot, which start from £20 per person. You can reduce your ride wait time thanks to the device, which lets you make ride reservations from anywhere in the park using your mobile phone.

When my family worked up an appetite, we refuelled at the various restaurants, and ice cream carts that are spread throughout the theme park. Tickets are from £30 for select dates throughout Brick or Treat when booked online 7 days in advance. Tickets for fireworks days from £45 when booked online 7 days in advance. Under-threes go free.
