THE OPENING date of Coral Reef has been announced.

At 10.30am on Friday, September 29 the pool will reopen after over a year's absence.

The waterworld has been closed for a £13.3 million redevelopment, which saw a complete overhaul of the facility.

Entry over the first three days will be on a strict ticket only basis to avoid lengthy queues and disappointment, with pre-booking available over the coming days.

The swimming pool is now complete with five new interactive slides, a poolside snack bar and two cafes.

The famous 'Coralina' pirate ship will once again be underwater after almost 20 months on dry land, and Pirate Pete will be on hand to cut the ceremonial ribbon and officially reopen the park.

Coral Spa, formerly Sauna World, has also undergone extensive refurbishment.

Councillor Iain McCracken, executive member for culture, corporate services and public protection, said: “I’m thrilled that we can welcome visitors back to one of Berkshire’s most popular attractions.

"I had the privilege of opening Coral Reef back in 1989, so it’s a real honour for me to be here again and getting ready to officially open the doors once more.

“Coral Reef is looking fantastic and the new waterslides are really going to set it apart from the rest. It is more than just a swimming pool, it’s a place for family fun and thrill seekers alike.

“We’re anticipating it will be busy over the opening long weekend, so look out for details of how to book your tickets in advance and arrive in plenty of time for your session. We look forward to seeing you there.”
