SCOUTS from went on an adventure to learn the wonders of fishing last Saturday.

The youngsters from the second Bracknell Scout Group hiked six miles to Wokingham where they settled for a spot of night fishing.

En route to their campsite they were hampered by a thunderstorm, but did not let it defeat them as they carried on casting off until the early hours.

The Scouts finally put their fishing rods away at 2am, only to then be woken up again by troupe leaders five and a half hours later.

After a cooked breakfast on the campfire, the scouts began their hike back to their hut in Bracknell.

One boy from the group caught a ten pound carp and exclaimed: "These fish are huge."

The event would not have been possible had it not been for the support of Crowthorne Fishing, which allowed them to use the lake for the weekend.

One parent commented: “My son had a brilliant time, thank you all.”
