The fourth of five waterslide names has been revealed for the new Coral Reef Waterworld.

Poseidon’s Peril casts shipmates adrift on an inflatable two person raft, sending them on a choppy descent towards the ocean floor and into the super crater.

The slide will be customisable so riders can choose their experience before they set off.

Heading down the slide, 20 individual light rings will change colour and rotate, giving the rider the sensation of swirling and increasing speed.

Different twinkle effects and colours will also run in a random pattern.

Councillor Iain McCracken, executive member for culture, corporate services and public protection, said: “Poseidon’s Peril will be a unique experience and is easily recognisable with its huge purple and pink super crater.

Inside the super crater the riders chosen theme will be projected all around them, with accompanying lights and sounds.

"However, don’t let the colour fool you, this ride is not for the faint hearted and our younger riders will have to be eight years old before they can take to a raft.

“There will be a number of themes available for riders to select, such as formula one racing, dinosaurs or sharks, to something more serene, like a beautiful coral reef.

"We will have the ability to refresh the options available, so this ride will never be a sinking ship. Visitors are going to love seeing their photo at the end of their ride and being able to email themselves a memento of their day.”

Other features inside the slide include a camera that will take photos displayed on a 42” screen at the end of the slide.

Poseidon’s Peril will join Storm Chaser, Aqua Splash and The Cannon when Coral Reef re-opens in September.

Details of the final waterside will be revealed shortly.
