SATURDAYS of crafts and demonstrations are set to whisk families away from Bracknell town centre and around the world.

Funded by the Bracknell Regeneration Partnership (BRP), the series of events will run each Saturday throughout August.

On Saturday, August 5, the destination is America where children can pan for gold, make their own Sheriff’s hat, snap a selfie with a living Statue of Liberty, catch a demonstration from a cheerleading squad and join the Walk of Fame, all in Princess Square.

On Saturday, August 12, the theme is China, with a roaming Chinese dragon, a Chinese ribbon workshop and Chinese puppet show, alongside paper crafts where children can decorate paper lanterns and fans.

Greece is the next stop on Saturday, August, 19, with a chance for children to stomp grapes (right) experience some Greek dancing, listen to some Greek myths storytelling and decorate a porcelain vase to take home from the craft table.

The last stop on the journey brings us back home to celebrate the best of British on Saturday, August 26. There will be a traditional Punch and Judy show, a seaside cut-out to snap a photo in, seaside crafts and vintage games to play.

All this and more will be available from 11am – 4pm in Princess Square and completely free.

Gemma Tizzard, senior marketing executive for BRP, said, “Our summer events for children are always popular and we are really looking forward to bringing the Around the World events to the town centre this year.

"This will be our last set of events before The Lexicon opens and we look forward to inviting people in to take part and join in the fun of the free events as we count down to The Lexicon opening on Thursday, September 7.”

Children can also pick up a passport from the craft table for a chance to win. Each week there will be a sticker to collect, with a £100 hamper of toys from The Entertainer on offer for those that fill theirs in correctly.
