MORE than 100 people contorted themselves into downward dogs and cranes on Sunday for the United Nations International Yoga Day.
Held in Garth Hill College's sports hall, the event aimed to spread awareness of the benefits of yoga with a masterclass for all ages and abilities.
A demonstration of surya namaskar, a graceful salutation to the sun, was led by the Indian Community Association of Bracknell (ICAB) before teacher Kam Dahal instructed the assembled crowds.
At the end of proceedings a group of children spoke about how yoga had helped them in their day to day lives.
One young student said: “Yoga helped me manage anxiety and cope with my exam preparation.”
ICAB was formed 22 years ago and yoga classes have been run by the organization for past 20 years.
In that time ICAB yoga has grown from one to four classes a week including an exclusive session for children.
