RESIDENTS will have the chance to show their appreciation for the work of armed forces.
Armed Forces Day is being marked by Wokingham Town Council at Wokingham Market Place this Saturday, June 24.
Armed Forces Day was first introduced in 2009 and aims to raise public awareness of the contribution made to our country by those who serve and have served in HM Armed Forces, and to provide an opportunity for the nation to show its appreciation for this.
To mark the day, Wokingham Town Council has invited Saint Sebastian Band to perform in the Market Place 11am-1pm. At 12 noon, The Mayor, Cllr. Peter Lucey will speak from the balcony.
Cllr Peter Lucey said: βIt is an honour to speak on Armed Forces Day, recognising all those who have served or are currently serving and protecting our country.β
