A LARGE grant has allowed a charity to train ten new volunteers.
Me 2 Club was given £4,980 by The Morrisons Foundation, which raised the majority of the money through single use carrier bag sales.
The Woodley charity help young people with additional needs and disabilities across Wokingham Borough attend mainstream activities, such as cubs and swimming groups.
Liz McDaniel, Me2 Club’s fundraising development officer, said: “Like all small charities fundraising remains a priority which is why we were so excited to hear that we have been awarded a grant of £4,890 from the Morrisons Foundation.
"These funds will cover the costs of recruiting and on-going training of ten new volunteers, who will then support children at a weekly mainstream leisure activity of their choice, throughout a whole year."
Me 2 Club runs drama and dance sessions, helping children improve their social skills and confidence, as well as running three residential trips each year as a learning experience for the children and respite for families and carers.
The cheque was presented on behalf of the Morrisons Foundation by Jayne Allen, from Morrisons Wokingham.
