AN ICONIC pub is set to be redesigned and refurbished following consultatio with residents.

The Royal Foresters, one of Ascot’s most recognisable pubs, may soon be changed forever after pub group owner Oakman Inns announced proposed plans for a redesign.

Residents will now be given the opportunity to see the plans for themselves at The Royal Foresters on Thursday, May 25 and Friday, May 26 from 3pm to 7pm and Saturday, May 27 from 10am to 4pm.

Peter Borg-Neal, Oakman Inns’ CEO, said: “The fact that the building isn’t listed doesn’t mean that it hasn’t been a popular meeting place and venue for several generations of locals not to mention commuters and horseracing enthusiasts.

“Like all historic pubs, The Royal Foresters has been a curator of hundreds of thousands of special memories for families celebrating Christenings, birthdays, weddings and anniversaries, and that’s why we’re going to be treating the place sympathetically and ensuring that it remains open for the whole community.”

The Royal Foresters is situated on the London Road in the Winkfield Parish less than a mile from Ascot Racecourse.

Oakman Inns have now begun the formal planning process with Bracknell Forest Unitary Authority to reinstate the former pub, restaurant and hotel, in what promises to be a considered design.

Peter Borg-Neal added: “I have driven past The Royal Foresters hundreds of times and thanks to my brilliant team at Oakman Inns who have helped to build our company over the past 12 years, as its new owners, we’re now in the privileged position of being able to bring it back to life.

“I very much hope that everyone in the area likes what we are trying to do at The Royal Foresters.”
